Your StorageChain knowledge layer, inside Claude.
The StorageChain connector is a hosted remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server. It lets Claude search indexed files, open relevant document text, and cite protected source previews without creating an unrestricted copy of your cloud repositories.
StorageChain checks the signed-in user’s organization, membership, connection, folder, and file permissions for search, then checks exact-file permission again for fetch.
Before you connect
Claude currently allows remote custom connectors on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. Workspace controls may affect availability.
Connect on Free, Pro, or Max
- 1
Open Claude connector settings
In Claude, go to Customize → Connectors. Select the + button, then choose Add custom connector.
- 2
Add the StorageChain endpoint
Use “StorageChain” as the name and https://mcp.storagechain.io/mcp as the remote MCP server URL.
- 3
Let Claude discover OAuth
Leave the advanced OAuth client ID and client secret fields empty unless StorageChain support has issued fixed credentials for your deployment.
- 4
Sign in and approve access
Select Add or Connect. Sign in to StorageChain, review the requested read access, and approve the connection.
- 5
Enable StorageChain in a conversation
From the + menu in a Claude conversation, open Connectors and enable StorageChain for that conversation.
Connect on Team or Enterprise
Members connect their own StorageChain accounts only after an Owner or Primary Owner makes the custom connector available to the Claude organization.
- 1
An Owner or Primary Owner opens Organization settings → Connectors.
- 2
Select Add, hover over Custom, and choose Web.
- 3
Enter https://mcp.storagechain.io/mcp and finish adding the connector.
- 4
Each member then opens Customize → Connectors and selects Connect to complete their own StorageChain OAuth authorization.
Ask naturally, then verify the sources.
Enable StorageChain from the Connectors menu for the current conversation. Claude can then choose the appropriate tools, ask you to select an organization when necessary, and open source documents to answer detailed questions.
For best recall, begin with a distinctive name, filename, project, customer, date, or folder. For exhaustive requests, explicitly ask Claude to find all matching files and inspect their contents before summarizing.
Available MCP tools
list_organizationsLists the StorageChain organizations the signed-in user can currently access and shows the active selection.
select_organizationChanges the active organization for this connector session after the user chooses it.
searchSearches authorized indexed files in the selected organization and returns source links and document evidence.
fetchReads an authorized document returned by search. Exact-file permission is checked again before content is returned.
Its exposed tools list organizations, select session context, search authorized files, and fetch authorized document content. They do not create, edit, move, or delete cloud data.
Permissions and security
OAuth authentication
Claude never needs your StorageChain password. Sign-in and consent happen on StorageChain.
Organization isolation
Search runs only against the organization selected for the authenticated connector grant.
Live authorization
Current member and source permissions are applied before results or document content are returned.
Revocable access
Disconnect the connector in Claude at any time. Organization admins can also remove source access.
Review StorageChain’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service before connecting. Do not send passwords, access tokens, API keys, private keys, or MFA codes to Claude or support.
Common setup and search issues
Claude cannot connect to the server URL
Confirm that the URL is exactly https://mcp.storagechain.io/mcp. Do not add another path, query string, API key, or trailing text. The endpoint must be reached over HTTPS from Anthropic’s cloud.
The OAuth page does not open or returns to Claude with an error
Remove the custom connector and add it again, then complete the sign-in flow in the same browser session. If your StorageChain account requires email verification or two-factor authentication, finish those steps before approving the connector.
Claude asks which organization to search
This is expected when your account belongs to more than one organization. Tell Claude which listed organization to select. The selection remains scoped to your authenticated connector grant.
A known file does not appear in search
Verify that the correct organization is selected, the source connection is active, the file is indexed, and your StorageChain membership includes the connection, folder, and file. Try a distinctive filename or exact person/project name.
A source link asks me to sign in
Source previews are protected StorageChain pages. Sign in with the same authorized StorageChain account; after authentication, the application should return you to the requested file preview.
Remove access or get help
In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, locate StorageChain, and choose Disconnect or Remove. On managed plans, an owner can also remove the connector from Organization settings → Connectors.
Email support@storagechain.io with your account email, organization name, approximate issue time and time zone, and a redacted screenshot when available.
